Rebecca Stapel-Wax

Rebecca Stapel-Wax, Director of The Rainbow Center, has been working in the Jewish communal world on and off for 15 years. Having an Orthodox sister sparked the need to be involved in The Rainbow Center at Jewish Family & Career Services. Personally experiencing exclusion from her family because she is a lesbian she has dedicated the last 7 years to transform a program into a critical resource for the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (GLBTQ) community, their families and all allies. She has also taken workshops to the Reform & Conservative congregations in the Atlanta metropolitan area in order to enhance the way they embrace their members. As a leading member of the Georgia GLBTQ Advisory Group for Seniors she has collaborated with area agencies to educate clinicians about GLBTQ inclusion. Additionally she has created a curriculum to work with staff who works with GLBTQ youth who are incarcerated. Originally from Brookline, MA, she has lived in Atlanta for 18 years, has a wife and two exceptionally beautiful children.
